Common Tools, Inc. operates this website and the forms linked from it. This policy explains how we handle personal information.
What we collect
When you join our waitlist, apply for a role, or contact us, we collect what you submit — typically your name, your email address, and anything else you choose to include. Our hosting providers may log technical information such as IP address and browser type, as is standard for websites.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on this site, and we do not permit third parties to collect personal information about your activity across other websites. Because we do not track you across sites, we do not respond to Do Not Track signals.
How we use it
To respond to you; to send you communications about Common Tools and our software, including product updates, announcements, and invitations to access it; to evaluate applications for employment; to operate, improve, and secure what we make; and to comply with our legal obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for marketing email and on our legitimate interests for operating and securing the site. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
How we disclose it
We use service providers to operate our business — for example providers of email, forms, hosting, and customer relationship management — who process information on our behalf.
We may disclose information where we believe it is required by law or legal process, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of assets, including to a nonprofit organization to which we transfer the relevant project or assets.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may create aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you. We maintain it in de-identified form and do not attempt to re-identify it.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until the list is retired. We keep job applications for up to twelve months.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time. To review, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, email privacy@common.tools.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — including to access, port, or object to processing — and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and process information there. Where we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, or the applicable age where you live, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and we will update the date above.
